PDF Fit

About PDF Fit

PDF Fit is a set of web tools for shrinking PDFs to the size an upload form or email allows, and for merging several files into one PDF. All processing happens in your browser; files are never sent to a server.

Who makes it?

ONLYAPPS builds and runs this site. ONLYAPPS is a small app studio run by one person in South Korea, and it relies heavily on AI tools for planning and development. We don't pretend to be a big company — we build small tools that fix one everyday annoyance at a time.

This one exists because of a very common moment: an upload form rejecting your PDF for being too large. That's why there are only two tools — compress and merge.

Why process files without uploading them?

The documents people need to shrink or combine are often the most personal ones: IDs, tax forms, bank statements, applications. If a file never leaves your device, there's nothing to wonder about — no retention period, no server copy. It also means we don't need servers to process files, which keeps the site cheap enough to run on ad revenue alone.

How does it work?

When you open a tool page, your browser downloads a small program (JavaScript) that can read and write PDFs. When you pick a file, that program works on it in your device's memory — re-compressing images or joining pages — and builds a new file. When you hit Save, the result goes straight to your device.

The main open-source libraries we use are pdf-lib (MIT license) and pdf.js (Apache 2.0 license).

How to verify that nothing is uploaded

Method 1: Watch the Network tab (computer)

  1. Open a tool page in Chrome or Edge.
  2. Press F12 (Option+Command+I on a Mac) and open the Network tab.
  3. Process a PDF.
  4. You'll only see the page and the PDF code loading (plus ad requests once ads are live) — no upload anywhere near the size of your PDF.

Method 2: Go offline (computer or phone)

  1. Process any PDF once on a tool page (this loads the PDF code).
  2. Turn off Wi-Fi or switch on airplane mode.
  3. Pick a different PDF and process it. A server-based tool would fail here; this one finishes the job.

Ads and analytics

The site is free with ads (ads from Google AdSense appear only after Google approves the site). We don't use any analytics tools right now. If we add one, we'll list it in the privacy policy first — and even then, file names and contents are never sent. Details are in our privacy policy.
